Motorola recently posted a message to its support forums, announcing a forthcoming update for the Electrify on US Cellular, and soliciting 200 Electrify owners to help the company test things out.
While there’s been no mention thus far of the contents of this particular update, we’re likely looking at the equivalent of the Photon 4G update sent out to Sprint users last month. That one didn’t go as smoothly as possible, and some users found that their phones just wouldn’t take the update. After briefly pausing things, the update started going back out at the beginning of November to hopefully hit all those stragglers. It’s possible that Motorola is now approaching this Electrify test with the aim of avoiding a repeat of that situation.
If you’re interested in participating, hit-up the source link for Motorola’s instructions for applying to help. We’re likely to see this pre-release update go out to testers sometime next week, at which point we’ll hopefully be able to confirm just what functionality and bugfixes are included. Assuming that goes well, and we might hope to expect the final update to be ready for distribution near the end of the month.
