If you’ve been a loyal user of Motorola’s Cliq 2 QWERTY messaging Android, maybe you were involved with last spring’s testing of the phone’s 1.1.30 software update. After recruiting users to help it with the final stages of testing, Motorola ultimately released that update last summer. That time Motorola only wanted 200 Cliq 2 users helping it out; now the company’s facing the pending release of a much larger update for the handset, and is correspondingly seeking-out a much larger testing group.

Motorola has prepared a long-overdue Gingerbread update for the Cliq 2, which has been languishing on Froyo since its release. In order to run the software through its paces, the company wants 1000 users giving the update some real-world testing.

There’s no word on a schedule for just when Motorola hopes to wrap-up its testing and get the update out to patient T-Mobile subscribers. With a full year already having passed since the handset’s release, we’re hoping Motorola doesn’t waste any more time than is quite necessary.
