Once again, the fact that the Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition are coming to Verizon isn’t much of a surprise; no, the real news here is that name they chose to market them under: the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and Droid Xyboard 8.2, respectively. Most likely meant to evoke the term “cyborg,” Xyboard has thus far met with mostly universal confusion: we can see why Verizon might want to distance itself from the original Xoom (never a breakaway hit), but the choice of a Transformers-like name may not have been the best way to get adults to fork over hundreds of dollars in cash. Nonetheless, expect the Xyboard family — LTE radios onboard — to be announced shortly.
