At 11:11 this morning, Motorola’s Droid RAZR officially went up for sale. While we were initially expecting the LTE smartphone to drop on November 10, last week we caught wind of this new plan to shape the RAZR’s release around this 11/11/11 theme. It turns out that idea is spreading a little farther than just the RAZR’s release date and time, and also extending to its launch price.

We touched on this offer with the RAZR hardware tour video we just published, but here’s the full skinny: for today only, over at Amazon, you can place an order for the Droid RAZR on-contract for just… you guessed it, $111.11. Considering that, as an LTE-capapble handset, Verizon is charging a premium $300 price when ordered directly, this looks even more like a fantastic deal, especially for a high-profile phone’s launch day.

Granted, there a few significant caveats with this offer, like the fact that Amazon already has the RAZR on back-order, so you’re looking at a minimum of another week’s wait before the phone could hope to ship. The other to keep in mind is that the fully-discounted $111.11 rate only applies to new Verizon subscribers.

Don’t forget, Verizon LTE smartphones are eligible for double data allowances if you sign-up during this limited promotional period. That means that its cheapest data offering will now get you 4GB a month for your thirty dollars. As long as you don’t change your plan, you’ll continue to get the extra bandwidth each month.
