A couple days ago we got a look at the Motorola Droid HD, after first hearing the name earlier this summer. Droid-life noticed the similarity between the smartphone and a rumored Motorola Android we caught wind of earlier, but could they be one and the same?
In mid-July we heard a rumor about a Motorola called Dinara. It was supposed to have a 4.5-inch screen possibly in HD and be a thinner, lighter Bionic. Looking back at the Droid HD, it’s easy to see how they could make that connection. Apparently, at least according to a source with Verizon, the Droid HD isn’t the Dinara at all, but has been going by the code name Motorola Spyder.
While the Dinara should be physically similar to the Droid HD/Spyder, it would be slightly higher-spec, with changes to its display and with a higher megapixel camera. That could mean that the Droid HD ends up with a qHD screen, and the 720p is saved for the Dinara. We had previously heard that it might come to Verizon; now we’re told that LTE connectivity is very likely. Now we just need to find a picture of that model, as well.
