Near the start of June, we got to see what appeared to be the newly-revamped Motorola Droid Bionic, back from getting some revisions to make it a more competitive smartphone. Verizon’s been pretty quiet about the Android’s fate, but Motorola’s managed to provide updates, most recently announcing that the handset is on-track for a summer release. A milestone towards that release may have just been passed, with the arrival of FCC documentation for a phone that looks very much like it could be the new Bionic.

As is no surprise from a Motorola FCC filing, there are very few distinguishing pieces of information left behind that could help us ID the smartphone. One unavoidable reveal, that goes a long way towards painting this model as the Bionic, is its LTE radio on Verizon’s LTE band 13. There’s no other Motorola smartphone in the works for Verizon that we know of that is supposed to support LTE; such a thing isn’t impossible, especially considering how far in advance of a phone’s release it can make its first FCC appearance, but why overlook the simplest explanation?

The documentation shows the phone supporting simultaneous CDMA voice with LTE data, as well as 802.11 b/g/n WiFi. If this is the Bionic, now that it has its FCC certification, we’d hope to hear something from Verizon within the next month or so.
