We recently learned of a rumor that finally gave the upcoming Motorola Droid Bionic a retail price. The off-contract figure of $587 seems about right for the smartphone, but what would that make its on-contract price be? Verizon usually charges higher prices for LTE-equipped smartphones, so would we be looking at something around $250, or maybe closer to $300? A new leak of minimum advertised prices for Verizon phones say we’re looking at the latter.
The list gives the Droid Bionic a MAP of $299.99. While it’d be possible for a retailer to discount the phone below that, if the number is accurate, that’s a pretty safe bet for what the Bionic will go for at launch. It’s definitely on the higher end of what we were expecting, but from what we’ve seen so far, the phone looks like it will have the specs to justify such a cost.
Besides giving us the advertised price, this leak also suggests a launch date for the Bionic of September 8. That actually sounds more reasonable than the last date we heard rumored, which said the smartphone might arrive at the very end of August. After all, Motorola had said we were looking at a September launch. We’ve seen September 8 mentioned before, as well.
