Several weeks ago we learned of a potential release date for Motorola’s rejuvenated Bionic on Verizon. We’ve been seeing a lot of launch-related things pop up since then, but haven’t seen the original August 4 date or any date, for that matter repeated since. Sure, there have been clues, like the apparently viral Twitter account that posted a count-down until the expected release, but we’d been itching for something in the way of some more tangible verification. We may have just what we’ve been looking for now, with the leak of a document for Verizon retailers, repeating the August 4 release date.
According to the doc, Verizon retail partners will start receiving display models as of this Friday, with actual stocks set to arrive starting on Monday, preparing for the launch on next Thursday.
It’s not concrete confirmation, but this goes a long way to backing-up what we’ve been hearing so far. As Droid-life notes, however, there are some inconsistencies that might call into question the document’s validity, and maybe it’s just telling us what we want to hear.
With time until the Bionic’s launch now rapidly winding down, we’re just waiting for Verizon to announce the phone’s release proper; hopefully, that will be any day now.
