It’s still too early to say for sure, but it’s beginning to look like, despite the numerous signs pointing to a December 22 release, the Motorola Droid 4 may not launch as expected tomorrow.
Even when the Galaxy Nexus was delayed, we had still heard all about retail stores receiving their stocks in advance; there’s no such action with the Droid 4. That’s not to say that the phone still couldn’t go up for sale tomorrow maybe Verizon will announce that orders are open via direct fulfillment, and the stores won’t need stocks on-hand but that’s just speculation at this point.
Droid-life, mulling over the lack of retail buzz that might indicate a coming launch, has shared a couple rumors it heard but wasn’t previously sure what to make of. After all, things looked so strongly like a December 22 launch that a few unsubstantiated claims of a delay until February sounded unlikely. There’s still nothing that directly supports them, but if the Droid 4 doesn’t in fact arrive tomorrow, that’s definitely a new launch window worth considering.
