Motorola’s Droid 3 looks like it will be a pretty decent upgrade to the Droid 2. Building off the familiar Droid form factor, you’ll find the Droid 3 has a larger, higher-resolution screen, as well as a modern dual-core processor. Despite all the anticipation, Verizon’s hasn’t yet outed the Droid 3 and provided us with a scheduled release date. Some new information helps us narrow down when to expect it, but it’s not quite a slam-dunk.
A leaked screenshot of Best Buy’s computer system shows the Droid 3 anticipated for arrival on July 13. Verizon loves to release phones on Thursdays, so the obvious conclusion would be that the smartphone would be showing up in stores that Wednesday in preparation for a launch on July 14.
While that scenario seems likely, there’s really no assurance that the launch would occur so rapidly; Best Buy might be expecting to get its Droid 3s on the 13th at the earliest, with a release set for later in the month. With a little more info (advertising flyer, perhaps) the 14th might inspire some more confidence, but we can’t call it just yet. One thing that does seem certain, if this leaked info is accurate, is that the earlier-rumored July 7 launch is right out the window.
