A certain Motorola XT862 has just recently received Bluetooth Certification for standard 2.1 and it might be the Motorola Droid 3 we’ve seen pictures of, follow-up to the popular Droid 2 from last year.
Also referred to as the “Solana”, the Motorola Droid 3 has a new keyboard and a slimmer body compared to its predecessor, at least judging by the pictures showing it off. According to code on HowardForums — the place where initial pictures surfaced — the Droid 3, Solana and XT862 strings are linked together and the three denominations seem to indicate the same smartphone, the Droid 3.
Word is the smartphone will sport a four-inch-ish qHD display like the Atrix 4G and a dual-core TI-OMAP4 processor — a la LG Optimus 3D, not quite sure why Motorola would dump the Tegra2. Rumor also has it the handset will be powered by Android 2.2 Froyo and, if true, it would better get Gingerbread real soon after launch, whenever that might be!
