About a week ago, we learned about a new update being made available for Motorola’s Droid 2 Global. Some support documents on Verizon’s website heralded the updates arrival, and gave us a changelog so we’d know what to expect. At the time, the update was seemingly only in the works for the Global version of the phone, and not the original Droid 2. That may be about to change now, with Motorola sending out emails inviting owners of the phone to register their interest in helping to test a new Droid 2 update.

For the moment, at least, there’s no matching changelog available for the Droid 2, so we’re a bit in the dark as to what this in-testing update could be hoping to deliver. If it’s anything like the D2G update, and honestly, there’s a good chance it will be, we might hope to see a whole bunch of bugfixes, including some causing sudden resets or unexpected power-ons, better hotspot support, and compatibility with new emergency alerts.

Assuming this test starts soon, and goes smoothly, we could hope to see the finalized Droid 2 update released late this month.

Update: It looks like the Droid 3 is in the same boat, too; we’ve got no idea what that update might consists of, though.
