Phones have become much more resilient than they once were, thanks to the use of real materials like glass and metal. But most handsets (that is, all handsets) cannot be subjected to water, dust, or other extremes, without worry of damage to fragile internals.
The Motorola DEFY, previously announced for Europe, is one such handset that can take abuse. It’s water resistant and dust proof, plus it has a scratch-resistant display. Motorola has just announced that the DEFY is coming to T-Mobile USA later in Q4. It’s rocking the same specs compared to the European DEFY: Android 2.1 with Motoblur, a 3.7″ WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, an 800MHz CPU, plus a 5MP camera with flash on the rear.
The press release also mentions that you can tune into Oprah today to learn more about the device.
