All Things D published and interview with Christy Wyatt, Motorola’s corporate vice president and general manager for mobile devices. Wyatt gave some details regarding how Motorola is regarding and planning on playing in the mobile space.
While “there’s a very strong device vendor already behind the firewall”, said Wyatt clearly referring to RIM, Motorola is planning on targeting enterprise consumers with its products. They already focus on QWERTY-enabled Android phones and want to “have the greatest market share behind the firewall”.
“In order for Android to be fully participating in that community (enterprise) there’s security, device management, data management, network management there’s a variety of things we’ve built into the core Android platform for Motorola devices to make them business-ready”. Of course Motorola can’t do all that on its own; Google has the power to offer support and with the recent Motorola-Google deal in place it could very well be achieved.
