The Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T is an absolute beast on paper. It touts a stunning qHD 960×540 display, dual 1GHz processors, and 1GB of RAM. It’s also capable of rocking 4G-like speeds with HSPA+. We got a chance to spend some time with the Atrix, and we came away with mixed feelings. We were expecting the device to offer performance unmatched by anything we’ve ever seen. While snappy, the Axtrix doesn’t seem to offer performance far beyond what you’d find on, say, a Google Nexus S. The display benefits from the extra pixels, and it comes through as sharper text and more screen space to display various elements. The device was pretty thin, and didn’t have the highest quality feel. The real magic of the Atrix is with the special dock, which lets you use the device as if it were a fully-functioning computer. The dock is probably where the dual core CPU and extra RAM really helps.
