Samsung doesn’t have the best history with GPS on their smartphones. The causes of their problems have ranged from contacts for the GPS antenna losing their “springeyness” and thus losing connectivity to the antenna, to aGPS server issues, and a spattering of others.

We haven’t seen many GPS-related problems in the newer Galaxy S2 phones (not when compared to the number on the original Galaxy S family), but an issue has just cropped up.

This time, a GPS problem came along with an OTA update, so it’s something that can likely be fixed with another update. Additionally, the bug appears to be limited to the Vodafone version of the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Reportedly, after getting the Android 2.3.3 update sometime last week, users have been unable to get GPS location locks. Vodafone went on the record with the following statement:

“We’re investigating the cause with Samsung and will provide an update on timings for a fix as soon as we have more information.”
