Earlier today, we got a look at a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 that appeared to be running Gingerbread. Was this a custom hack job, or a sign that the official update may soon be upon us? Luckily for X10 owners, it seems likely that the latter may be the case, with the reveal of some updated User Agent Profiles for X10 models showing the phones as running Android 2.3.
The UAProfs for both the X10i and the X10a now list Gingerbread as their operating systems. Since this data is maintained by Sony Ericsson, there’s little reason to doubt it. The company earlier announced, back in March, that it was aiming to bring the Android update to the X10 somewhere around June or July. Since we’re just weeks away from the transition to Q3, we’ve seen an X10 apparently running Gingerbread (2.3.3, specifically), and now these UAProfs have been updated to reflect the change in OS revision, it seems safe to say that the update is about to drop any time now. Don’t hold your breath or anything, but you’d be safe to be on the lookout for it to arrive in the next couple weeks.
