Just when you thought they didn’t care about us, LinkedIn (which I call “Facebook for grown-ups”) went and released a beta version of their app for Android. It’s not available in the Market just yet, and won’t be until “next year”, but if you jump through their hoops, you can sideload their app today.
If you’d like to try it out, login to your LinkedIn account (you’ll likely have to reset your password to do so), and join the LinkedIn for Android group. Follow the instructions once you’re in, and you’ll be able to download the .apk to your phone and install it.
The app does need you to be running Android 2.1 or higher and you have to be able to sideload apps (sorry AT&T folks). Once installed you’ll login using your username and password. The user interface isn’t so much “elegant” as it is “simple”. Many functionalities are there, others that you’d expect are missing, but it’s their first attempt at an app, it’s beta, and overall it’s not bad.
Let me know what you think about it in the comments!
