We thought that the low-end LG Vortex Android 2.2 device was going to be free, but it looks like that is not the case. Verizon has just officially announced that its Optimus One variant will be selling for around $80 after a $100 mail in rebate and new contract. Considering this device packs a paltry QVGA touchscreen (yes, that’s 320×240) at a miniscule 3.2″, we’re hoping for some price promotions in the near future to get the price down to more reasonable levels. Beyond that, the Vortex has a 600MHz CPU with 512MB of RAM, plus a 3.2MP autofocus shooter in the back. The device can be configured with your choice of five or seven homescreens. Look for the device to be available on November 18.
