There may be a bunch of smartphones with Optimus 3D-like hardware floating around the halls of the FCC, but only one is the LG Thrill 4G, set to debut on AT&T. The carrier gave the handset a release date no more specific than “summer”, but a rumor earlier this month claimed that the phone would assuredly be released before the end of July. While we still don’t have a specific date we can confirm, we have our suspicions that the Thrill 4G will be released in close proximity to the Thrill-themed private event LG is hosting in New York on July 25.
LG and AT&T may not kick-off sales of the Thrill 4G right on the 25th, but it feels like we’re definitely looking at that last-week-in-July window for the smartphone’s release. Pricing’s still up-in-the-air, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see something towards the higher end of the subsidized price spectrum.
The materials we’ve seen regarding LG’s event refer to the phone as the the Thrill, rather than the Thrill 4G. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this happen, and it seems to be popping up more in recent days. Could the phone be in for an official name change?
