Kwon Bong-suk, Managing Director of LG Mobile Communications, acknowledged today that the next great mobile innovation doesn’t necessarily have to come from Apple. Companies like LG for instance can go down that road of identifying consumer needs and delivering.
On that note, he mentioned that LG is planning on introducing a new “thinking smartphone”. According to Kwon Bong-suk, a great example would be setting your alarm at one hour in the morning and you phone waking you up before the specified alarm once seeing that there is heavy traffic on the route to your first appointment. No other details were handed out but the Managing Director mentioned the possibility of releasing a $100 smartphone once it is clear that the user experience wouldn’t be dramatically affected.
