MetroPCS is poised to replace its year-old LG Optimus M with the similar-sounding LG Optimus M+, which appears to improve upon its predecessor in almost every department. Whereas the original Optimus M featured a 3.2-inch, 64,000-color HVGA display, the 800MHz M+ steps the screen size up to 3.5 inches and the color gamut up to 256,000 (although the resolution reportedly stays the same).
The camera sensor should move up from 3.2 to 5.0 megapixels, while also adding a flash. Bluetooth gets a boost as well, moving from the 2.x standard to 3.0 EDR. The Gingerbread-powered LG Optimus M+ — model MS695 — should hit Metro shortly, joining the higher-end LG Esteem and LG Connect 4G.
