LG’s most recent powerhouse, the Optimus LTE, hit Korea earlier this month. With hardware specs like a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and a 4.5-inch screen with a pixel density that beats (matches?) the iPhone’s Retina Display, it’s no surprise that we’ve been anxious to hear of plans to deliver the Optimus LTE to a Western audience. It looks like that day will soon be here, as evidence supporting a release on Canadian carrier Bell has been uncovered.

Retailer The Source, now a Bell subsidiary, produced a video clip promoting the arrival of the Optimus LTE, now called the LG Eye. While neither Bell nor LG’s Canadian branch have officially confirmed plans for the phone’s launch, the existence of this video is pretty damning evidence that it’s on its way in the near future.

Besides a fast CPU and a big 720p screen, the LG Eye features an eight-megapixel main camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facer, HDMI out, DLNA, a gigabyte of RAM, and 4GB of internal flash (with another 16GB via microSD).

We still haven’t heard of any plans to bring the phone down to the States. If LG wants to grab some market share while there’s still interest in the Eye, it had better hurry, before this high-end smartphone niche gets overcrowded; without stand-out features like NFC or Ice Cream Sandwich, the Eye may find it hard to differentiate itself in the near future.
