The LG Optimus 3D — soon the AT&T Thrill 4G — is shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box which could be a deal breaker for some but the manufacturer promised an official update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread (coming this autumn according to rumors).
You’d expect a full-3D experience when it comes to a 3D phone but LG went with its classic LG UI. Because of the technology, 3D is only available in landscape but unfortunately the UI supports neither landscape mode nor 3D mode. What the phone has though is a 3D launcher, where you’ll find a couple of shortcuts for games, gallery, YouTube and so on. We’ll take a look at that and several other software aspects of the Optimus 3D in this video.
