At CES we got some hands on with LG’s dual-core powered Android handset, the Optimus 2x. Overall we found it to be a fast device, thanks to the Tegra 2 CPU powered the device matted to 512MB of RAM. It also had a gorgeous 4″ WVGA display with fantastic contrast. It’s not likely that the Optimus 2x will see a US release, at least for a while, so it comes as no surprise that it’s going up for preorder in Europe. eXpansys is showing the smartphone for £499.99, which comes out to about $770. They’re showing a ship date of around February 21. While you could technically use the phone in the US, the lack of 3G bands means you’ll be surfing the web on EDGE, which might not be so cool.
