The T-Mobile G2x is a great phone, but its had its fair share of problems. T-Mobile was fairly quick to acknowledge the existence of the issues, but slow to announce any plan to fix them. So slow, in fact, that a lawsuit was filed to force them to act.
Apparently that move worked. Not long after the lawsuit was filed, LG quietly released a Gingerbread 2.3.3-based update which should address the majority of the concerns with the stock ROM.
There are some caveats:
- The update itself is almost 180MB
- If you’ve rooted your phone you’ll lose it if you install this ROM
- It’s not (yet) an OTA update — you’ll have to flash the ROM via LG’s Updater Tool
- LG’s Update Tool only runs on Windows
Want to give it a try? Download the LG Updater Tool and check for an update. From there the app will walk you through the rest of the process.
