Exactly one month ago, we took a look at some press renders for a new Android coming to MetroPCS. The LG Optimus M+, it was to introduce some minor upgrades over the Optimus M, which had already been a part of the carrier’s lineup. Back then, though, we weren’t yet aware of the launch plans for the phone at MetroPCS. It turns out that the phone’s release has managed to sneak up on us, and as of now the Optimus M+ is formally available, costing just $130.
You get what you pay for, and for that price you won’t be dealing with any high-end hardware. While the Optimus M+ makes a number of upgrades over the original M, sporting a slightly-larger 3.5-inch display and getting a more capable five-megapixel camera with flash, some important specs like the aging single-core 800MHz processor remain unchanged.
It’s certainly not for the smartphone elite, but the Optimus M+ could be a good option for younger users, considering both its low cost and the lack of contract requirements. That way, if something would end up happening to the phone, it wouldn’t create any undue financial burdens. There are a few higher-end MetroPCS Androids available, so you’ll want to think about balancing the performance/price trade-off when considering the Optimus M+.
