While we are patiently awaiting the “full-rewrite” of Launcher Pro the developer is still plugging along with updates to the current version, fixing bugs and adding features.
In this update, in addition to some bug fixes for the Twitter widget and making the Facebook widget use the login mechanism from the Facebook app, the developer also added a new widget and a couple cool, new homescreen transition animations.
The new widget brings your recent Gmail conversations along with a compose button to your homescreen. There are some limitations with opening individual conversations from 3rd party apps, so instead of opening the Gmail app to the conversation they open in a custom viewer which looks very similar to Gmail. Replying, however, is done through the Gmail app itself. As with all other Launcher Pro widgets, the new Gmail widget requires that you have a Launcher Pro Plus license.
Those of you who are using the free version aren’t left out! This version includes two new homescreen transition effects: “Flip” and “Rotate 2″. (The old “Flip” transition is now called “Flip 2″.)
