Probably the biggest court battle between Samsung and Apple is going down in the U.S.A., Apple’s home market and one of Samsung’s most important ones. The lawsuit has been going on for a while now and Samsung seems to have scored a small, but important battle win.
Still a long way to go until the war is over but U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh ruled in favor of Samsung’s request to dismiss some of Apple’s antitrust claims. Cupertino’s claims that the Korean manufacturer misrepresented its intent to license certain patents on fair terms was dismissed but the judge is yet to rule on Apple’s request to ban Galaxy smartphone products.
Meanwhile the legal battle is still going on in several regions of the world but the U.S. ruling, while not legally binding, could influence further judgments.
