MetroPCS sorely needs some smartphones to take advantage of its LTE network. On Monday we learned of Samsung’s SCH-R910 Android phone that would supposedly be the first to arrive with the carrier. Today the word is that Samsung has a phone called the Forte coming to MetroPCS, but are that and the R910 one-and-the-same?
The first difference we notice between the Forte and the R910 is the former’s QWERTY keyboard. While the leaked shots of the R910 didn’t show a keyboard, looking head-on at phone, there’s really no way to know. What we can’t deny is that, once closed up, the Forte looks just like the R910.
Further adding support to these being the same phone, the rumored specifications for the R910 line up exactly with those that are being attributed to the Forte: processing power, camera resolution, expansion, and Android flavor. This is a powerful index of similarities, such that our instinct is to call the Forte the SCH-R910 and be done with it.
Problem is, the tipster who has leaked today’s info on the Forte says that MetroPCS has two more Samsung LTE models on the way. We don’t know if they’re all going to be smartphones, but the supposed existence of another upcoming Samsung MetroPCS LTE phone is cause for some doubt. Right now, we’d have to lean towards Forte=SCH-R910, and assume that the other LTE Samsungs are still unknown.
