Up until a couple of days ago, your only “official” way to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was through a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The beauty of Open Source however, is the fact that anyone can change that any minute. Huawei has just released an official “demo” of Ice Cream Sandwich that’s compatible with their U8860 Honor, and this is no port or leak, the update is available on the device’s support website. The only sad part of the news here is the tiny detail of this OS version being only available in Simplified Chinese.
Now remember Huawei is mainly famous for budget devices. We’re not sure if this move is simply to get a good list of beta testers for the new OS on current hardware, but it could also mean that they’re already working on reaching the High-End market with new devices.
