Though it’s still not a brand many consumers readily associate with smartphones, Huawei has been making a lot of progress in putting together some quality-looking handsets that could be just what it needs to raise its profile. At the CES a few weeks ago, we got to see some of the company’s latest offerings, including the ridiculously thin Ascend P1 S (pictured above) and its cousin, the P1. Now, the company has started sending out invitations to an MWC event where Huawei plans to reveal some even higher-end hardware.
According to the invitation, Huawei intends to show the “smartest, fastest and most high-performing smartphone” around. This model would supposedly be part of its Diamond series of handsets, presumably all similarly high-end models. While we haven’t heard any specific rumors about just what hardware specs this Diamond lineup might feature, we can make a few inferences based on Huawei’s claims.
If what Huawei plans to reveal is really superior to any other phones the company has announced, then we can look to hardware that tops even that launched at the CES. Considering the Ascend P1 S’s already-high specs, there’s really not much room to go. The company could step things up with a 720p display and quad-core processor maybe even a new camera but that’s about it. We’re very curious now to see if this Diamond series ends up impressing, or if we’re just getting our hopes up.
