For several months now, we’ve been watching the HTC Wildfire S, which had been rumored to be coming to T-Mobile in the States. A phone that we believe could be that T-Mobile edition of the Wildfire S showed at the FCC earlier this month, but we still lacked any evidence really tying the smartphone to the carrier. Now we’ve finally gotten our first look at the Wildfire S in T-Mobile livery, all but confirming the handset for the carrier.

Still, there’s something not quite right here. Despite what’s clearly the Wildfire S with T-Mobile badging, the leaked document showing off the phone and a few specs clearly describes support for AT&T’s 3/4G bands, and not T-Mobile’s. As TmoNews notes, this could just be a typo, with spec info copied over from another variant of the Wildfire S, but it’s odd nevertheless (and we’re NOT going to try reading anything into the T-Mobile / AT&T merger out of this).

Hardware-wise, the Wildfire S is a bit bland, with a 600MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, and 3.2-inch HVGA screen. On the plus side, you’ve got Gingerbread with Sense right out of the box. There’s no word yet on when the smartphone might arrive, or what you’ll pay for it, but by the looks of things, it could be coming out pretty soon.
