Good news for HTC Android smartphone users, at least for those who own a Sensation, Sensation 4G or EVO 3D as the Taiwanese manufacturer announced that it will be unlocking bootloaders next month.
There was quite a story behind the HTC Android bootloaders with the manufacturer promising an unlock and then updating on the status, telling the world they’re working on the issue. More recently HTC announced on its Facebook page that it will be rolling out software updates for the HTC Sensation, the T-Mobile variant (the Sensation 4G) and the Sprint EVO 3D. These updates will already contain the unlocked bootloader so users can freely tweak and tinker to their heart’s content.
“We’re in the testing phase for the unlocking capability now, and we expect it to be fully operational by early September for devices that have received the software updates”. And the greatest news is that HTC will “continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as part of maintenance releases and new shipments”. We salute the decision and we hope Motorola does the same, very soon!
