Following up on yesterday’s story where Droid-life published a document stating the HTC Thunderbolt will not have Mobile Hotspot and Skype mobile with video at launch, Engadget ran a screenshot denying the information.
According to the new bit “customers will in fact be able to turn their HTC Thunderbolt into a wireless hotspot”. As always, a change of plans is welcome when it brings some added features or functionality having the customer in mind. No word on Skype mobile with video so we’ll just have to stick with previous information stating that there will be a placeholder icon for the app with a notification (when) of the software’s availability.
On the other hand, the document states that the device will have a functionality that will allow for simultaneous voice and data on Verizon’s 3G network. The experience is not guaranteed and might not be on par with the carrier’s standards so don’t expect your local reps to mention it while inquiring about the smartphone.
