Fall is upon us, and soon September will be transitioning into October. Where, then, is the long-awaited Gingerbread update for the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon? HTC promised at the end of August that the delayed update would be out before the end of September, so it doesn’t have much time left at all. With things down to the wire, the company has been responding to anxious Thunderbolt owners on Twitter, assuring them that the update is just about to drop.
We’ve known there’s been progress, with a new version of the Gingerbread ROM leaked last week, but it’s been anyone’s guess whether HTC was making the progress needed in order to finish up the release and get it to Verizon for distribution before October rolled-in.
HTC’s Twitter patrol responded to one inquiry about the update twice, writing both “It’s scheduled for later this month. Very soon.” and “It’s scheduled for last this month”. Could that second tweet be trying to say that it’s scheduled for release on the last day of the month (ie, September 30)? We’ll know for sure in just a few days.
