As we start to get into mid-February, there are probably a lot of you out there wondering where all the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for your existing Android phones are. After all, weren’t we hoping to see these releases really start arriving in early 2012? The good news is that the wait is nearly over, at least for some HTC users. The smartphone manufacturer posted a message to Facebook this morning talking about plans for the delivery of its first Ice Cream Sandwich updates in March.
We already knew about HTC’s plans to start selling phones running Android 4.0 in March, with the launch of the white Sensation early-on in the month. Users who already have a Gingerbread-running Sensation won’t be left out for long, with the phone’s update to ICS coming before the end of the month. Around the same time, updates will also arrive for the Sensation 4G and Sensation XE. While HTC hasn’t promised a March release for it, an update for the Sensation XL should follow all those shortly.
That’s just the start of HTC’s ICS upgrade strategy, and updates have been confirmed for the Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Desire S, and Desire HD. We’ll be keeping an eye on HTC to learn if update timelines for these models are announced in advance, as well.
