If so far we only had an initial blurry hint at what the device would look like, accompanied by a better – yet incomplete – view recently obscured by a case, we can now have a decent look at the HTC Knight aka Speedy thanks to a leaked ROM.
The handset, which may have dropped the HTC EVO Shift 4G naming, is still expected to see its January 6th CES launch according to rumors. Developers have already gotten their hands on a leaked ROM for the Sprint HTC Speedy that looks to have the old version of HTC Sense bundled, but this of course could change with the official device release. There seems to be speculation that this model could be a world phone, meaning it would join the BlackBerry 8830 as Sprint’s only dual-mode CDMA/GSM handsets.
The device is rumored to be a WiMAX version of the T-Mobile G2 but so far specs only hint towards a 3.7-inch WVGA display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard we’re yet to see, in addition to its WiMAX capabilities. There was also hear-say about a front facing camera but we can’t seem to identify one on the render above (unless that small dot on the left of the speaker grill is a camera and not a sensor).
The image on the left is part of the leaked ROM updater while the image on the right, featuring the back of the device, is an own – stripped – version of the back of the device without the HTCpedia cover on.
