Despite being headquartered in neighboring Taiwan, HTC has had a minimal presence in China up until recently, with the world’s largest market usually being denied cutting-edge handsets. That has started to change recently, first with a rebranded Incredible S, and now, it seems, with the Wildfire S — apparently headed to China Telecom — and flagship HTC Sensation, which appears destined for China Mobile.
These models will likely receive slight makeovers and new model numbers for these Chinese operators, although specs and basic functionality should remain nearly identical. The fact that China appears to be getting a top-of-the-line phone like Sensation relatively soon after launch should be seen as a good sign for consumers in that country, whose increased buying power is clearly being noticed and catered to.
