You probably remember the IPCom vs. HTC case in Germany, where the patent firm could reinforce a sales ban on HTC 3G devices after the phone-maker decided to retreat from the appeal.
IPCom started sending out formal cease-and-desist letters to major retailers across Deutschland, asking for an immediate end of sales for HTC’s 3G-capable products. According to recent reports, HTC managed to score a preliminary injunction that bans IPCom’s actions threatening retailers. The decision comes from a local court in Dusseldorf and is probably very well regarded over at HTC as phone sales, especially now in the Holiday season, can continue without further roadblocks (not to mention the fines which could have been applied).
