Happy owners of the new HTC One S might cherish their phones and treat them gently but according to recent reports, the outer coating of the device — ceramic coating through micro arc oxidation — isn’t as strong as advertised. Scratches and chips are showing up and they’re not the result of any abuse.
“HTC is committed to delivering a high quality product and great experience for all our customers”, said the manufacturer. With regards to the claims, the Taiwanese company stated that “HTC takes quality very seriously and are providing all customers with an immediate fix and we are implementing some small changes to ensure customers do not experience this issue in the future”.
The Verge has reached out to HTC and it turns out that the “immediate fix” the company was talking about is basically an exchange. If your One S has problems with its coating just return it to the store and HTC will fix it under standard warranty terms.
