System images and OEMs publishing them is what makes an open ecosystem really good and HTC has just posted the latest Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread system image for the Nexus One on the Developer Center.

Sure it’s nothing just baked, but it’s the official GRI40 image and is now public for everyone to download, whether you’re a Chef building custom ROMs or just a curious user who wants to take a peek under the hood. Public releases often help combat and correct bugs and errors and we’re always glad to see a new version up there. Now go grab it and get your hands dirty!
