According to alleged images of internal T-Mobile documents, the highly-anticipated Android-powered G2 from HTC will be launching on September 29th — with pre-orders possibly kicking off as soon as the end of the month. TmoNews has published a pair of slides which both seem to peg the HTC “Vanguard’s” release at 9/29; from the supposed leaked G2 ROM, we know that all of the wallpaper images are labeled “Vanguard.”
If G2 and Vanguard are indeed the same device, then consumers can expect an HSPA+-compatible cellular radio on this stock Google handset, along with a new Qualcomm chip in the company’s MSM7x30 branch. From the rumored specs floating around, this piece should be quite an upgrade from the original G1, which hit the scene to decidedly mixed reviews. Of course, those users who simply loved the first Android phone’s form factor may be disappointed if those chin-less spy shots turn out to be accurate.
