Digging the no-glasses-required 3D display on the HTC EVO 3D, but are already starting to run low on YouTube 3D content and are itching to have some more fun with your phone? For us, that often means rooting and getting ready for custom ROMs, but so far the EVO 3D has remained secure. Though unreleased for the moment, you’ll soon be able to get your superuser on, thanks to a newly-discovered exploit that’s been used to root the smartphone.

Earlier today, we got word that Team Win was onto an exploit that made the EVO 3D vulnerable to potential rooting. That seemed like the major roadblock was out of the way, and that it would just be a matter of time before a concise process for rooting the smartphone was revealed. Just hours later, the word in EVO 3D forums is that root’s been achieved. The exploit that allows this to happen is apparently present in both the original EVO 3D software, as well as the state the phone will be in after installing currently-available OTA updates.

Right now, Team Win is working on disabling flash security for a permanent root. Once it’s tied up all the loose ends, we can hopefully expect it to finally release the tools that make this root possible.
