US customers can check out HTC’s Incredible S, the sequel to last year’s Incredible, on T-Mobile, but you’ll have to track the phone down yourself and pay the full, unlocked price. The handset will apparently undergo a small transformation before it sees US carrier subsidies, flipping that S on its axis, and arriving at Verizon under the name Droid Incredible 2. There’s been plenty of evidence popping up in support of this arrangement, from pics of the Verizon-branded handset to a complete system dump. We still haven’t heard anything about when to expect the phone to finally go up for sale, but an appearance in some Best Buy computers suggests that day may be coming soon.
Sadly, the leaked image doesn’t provide much in the way of context, nor offer anything that might clue us in at what Verizon will charge for the phone (we’ll just have to assume around $200). Considering all the available information, it seems appropriate to speculate that Verizon will announce the Incredible 2 shortly, with retail availability likely by May. In the meantime, check out some of the files from the available system dump if you want to get a sense for what the Incredible 2 will have to offer.
