In our last post we unboxed the HTC Desire S. In this video we’ll take a look at the first boot and see the general responsiveness of the smartphone.

This cellphone is running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI 2.1. The new version of Sense UI comes with a quick settings tab and recently used apps, in addition to notifications in the pull-down notification shade. The app drawer has three views (all apps, frequently used apps, and downloaded apps) and a cool, vertically paginated view to help navigate a long list of apps. Integration with HTCSense.com is present and does its job transparently.

From a software standpoint, the HTC Desire S is every bit as beautiful as the hardware that runs it!

If you’d like to get your own HTC Desire S, head over to Negri Electronics. They graciously provided us with the phone we’ve been evaluating and have inventory on-hand for you to buy your own. They’re unlocked and going for US$598.50 when I checked their website. Be advised, if you’re in the U.S. (like I am) you may be stuck with EDGE data. Make sure you check your carrier’s frequencies for compatibility before you place your order.
