One of HTC’s Facebook phones, the ChaCha, launched with the occasion of this year’s Mobile World Congress, is likely to be available in Spain with a slight name change.
While Engadget says the word “chacha” “is used as a term of disparagement” in Spanish, our dictionary brought up the word “nanny” as translation. Nevertheless, a Cuban music style like the “Cha Cha Cha” would grant the device more justice, also having in mind that the Taiwanese company has been recently sued over the “ChaCha” branding.
Not quite sure why HTC didn’t name the device ChaChaCha in the first place, taken into consideration the other Facebook phone in their portfolio, the Salsa, wearing the name of another Cuban music style. Anyways, all the hassle could have been avoided with a little bit of extra research.
