HTC’s ChaCha, one of its upcoming “Facebook phones”, is still some time off from its US launch on AT&T, but the rest of the world was told they could look forward to it sometime during Q2. Smartphone users in the UK can narrow that down a smidge, as T-Mobile UK has updated its site with info on the ChaCha, scheduled for a June release.
With a BlackBerry-like form factor, the ChaCha offers a QWERTY keyboard option lacking from its cousin, the touchscreen-only Salsa. That form factor means it will have a petite 2.6-inch HVGA 480×320 screen, with HTC Sense adapted to accommodate the display’s aspect ratio. A 600MHz processor doesn’t sound too impressive, but considering the ChaCha is targeted at messaging and social networking fans, it really shouldn’t need some dual-core 1GHz+ setup.
Like the HTC Salsa, the ChaCha will have a hardware Facebook button to quickly connect its users to their friends, their walls, and all the shared media available through the network.
T-Mobile has yet to set a price point for the ChaCha, but based on the specs and its intended, younger audience, expect it to fall on the more affordable end of the spectrum. You can drop your contact info if you want T-Mobile to reach out to you when it has more information to make public.
