Samsung’s Galaxy S III is cloaked in mystery, and while we continue to hear rumors about its design and features (the latest of which we checked out overnight), there’s been very little in the way of actual evidence. In particular, though we’ve seen plenty of mock-ups and renders claiming to show the GS3, few photographs have purported to show the phone in the flesh. There might just be a reason for that, with rumors that Samsung has been testing the phone while in disguise.

Just like Apple’s been known to do, hiding the iPhone 4 under a very 3GS-looking facade during its testing period, Samsung has reportedly been concealing its next flagship model in a similar matter. While eagle-eyed smartphone users all over might notice some of the distinct changes we’ve been hearing are in store for GS3, should they run across the path of an employee out testing the model, hiding it underneath a bulky case has supposedly been letting the phone maintain its anonymity.

We’d like to think that some images of the GS3 as it will make its retail debut will surface as we get closer to the phone’s launch, but if Samsung is being as judicious about security as this report makes it out to be, that could be a trickier proposition than we might otherwise expect.
