At CES we got some hands-on time with the Lenovo S2 Android 2.3 smartphone (which will be upgradable to Android 4.0). It packs a single-core Snapdragon MSM8255 1.4GHz CPU with a 3.8″ WVGA IPS display with an 8MP camera on the back and a 1.3MP camera on the front. The S2 features a single button control that functions as a menu, back, and home button, all in one, depending on the gestures you use. It has Lenovo’s custom UI which features a custom home screen interface, custom launcher, and even custom notification bar. The S2 isn’t the most advanced smartphone ever, but we found the screen to have fantastic viewing angles, and we were generally excited about the very different interface. Look for the S2 to show up in China and then to land in the US shortly thereafter.
